CHICAGO – May 31, 2012 – The two official scientific journals of the Society of Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) are now accepting entries to their 2013 JALA & JBS Art of Science Contest.
The Journal of Biomolecular Screening (JBS) and the Journal of Laboratory Automation (JALA) recognize that visualization plays an important role in the analysis and presentation of scientific work. In journal articles, images often communicate ideas and information in ways that text, tables, charts, graphs or equations cannot. Sometimes scientific images surpass this purpose and create shapes, patterns and designs that capture attention and imagination. These are the images JALA and JBS seek for the 2013 Art of Science Contest.
One grand prize winner will receive The New iPad. Up to ten honorable mentions may be awarded and each will receive a $50 Amazon.com gift card.
To enter, e-mail a high resolution jpg file (300+ dpi/10MB maximum size) of your favorite cell structures, assay results or other lab creations to nhallock@slas.org. Include your first and last name in the title of the jpg file AND include your name, contact information and a brief description of your image in your message. Limit two entries per person. Deadline is 10:00 p.m. U.S. central time on Friday, August 31.
In their seventeenth years of peer-reviewed publication, the Journal of Biomolecular Screening (JBS) publishes ten issues each year and has an impact factor of 2.500; and the Journal of Laboratory Automation (JALA) publishes six issues each year and will receive its first impact factor in June 2012.
