Launching at PITTCON 2014, and concluding November 1, 2014, the contest will review applicants on criteria in four categories:
- Originality: The efforts of the laboratory are unique in the respective industry or are taking a new approach to a traditional scientific practice.
- Contribution to Advancement of STEM Disciplines: The current research, outputs and daily activities use STEM disciplines to achieve goals and objectives.
- Impact: The laboratory's efforts are making an impact in their community or field. The impact has an immediate effect or is a long term catalyst for revolutionary contributions.
- Use of Weighing Technology: An OHAUS balance or scale is being used to achieve your unique laboratory goals.
The winner of the “OHAUS Leading the Weigh” Laboratory Award will receive a new OHAUS balance or scale, an OHAUS Lab Startup Kit, and $2,000 towards the purchase of laboratory supplies. The winner will also receive a personalized desktop award or wall plaque to be prominently displayed in their facility. Both the award winner and the winner’s laboratory will be featured throughout the year on various promotional documents, advertisements and the Ohaus.com website. Finally, the award winner will also be asked to participate in the selection of the following year’s winner.
