When using hydrogen as fuel (for flame ionization and nitrogen-phosphorus detectors), make sure that a column or cap is connected to the inlet fitting whenever hydrogen is supplied to the instrument. Doing so will help you avoid buildup of explosive hydrogen gas in the oven. Always turn off the hydrogen gas supply at its source when changing columns or doing maintenance on your GC.
