Webinar: Ethical Organizational Politics
Posted on:

In this webinar we will describe the characteristics of political environments, the keys to being successful while maintaining ethical standards, and ways to keep political influence from seeping into your lab.

Live Air Date: Wednesday, July 24, 2013

Many laboratory managers have limited experience working in the broader organization. When they are promoted and are exposed to the politics that characterize virtually all companies and large groups, including universities, their initial reaction is to try to “stay above the fray, to hope that a meritocracy will suddenly arise.” The tendency is to hope that politics will go away if they don’t participate. In this webinar we will describe the characteristics of political environments, the keys to being successful while maintaining ethical standards, and ways to keep political influence from seeping into your lab. This session will build on the concepts introduced in the webinar on Power and Influence For Lab Managers, May 15, 2013.

As an attendee, you will learn that:

  • Politics exist in organizations
  • Politics can be understood
  • Politics can be managed
  • You can become a better “Organizational Politician,” and maintain your dignity
  • Denial won’t make politics go away
