When you think of Lab Manager, it’s impossible not to also think of Alyssa Moore. As a sales account manager for the last 14+ years, she has been an important contributor to the success of the brand. But more importantly, her successes were built on kindness and through developing genuine relationships with customers and coworkers.
It is with heavy hearts that the Lab Manager team shares the news of Alyssa’s passing in May 2026. As we mourn the loss of our beloved colleague and friend, we also want to celebrate her life, her achievements, and her devotion to her teammates and clients.
Alyssa joined LabX Media Group in 2012. She has seen the company, and the overall publishing industry, expand and evolve over the years. Embracing these changes and finding ways to adapt your approach, your product offerings, and your support for clients is no easy feat. “She was a connection to the history of the brand and a voice for some of the longest tenured customers the brand had. She made many strong friendships among her many customers,” Scott Hanton, editorial director at Lab Manager, shared.

As a long-standing employee, Alyssa saw many new faces join the team over the years and built a reputation among everyone as being a friendly and helpful colleague.
“I remember attending one of my first conferences with the company and not knowing anyone very well. Without hesitation, she invited me along to meet with one of her customers and immediately made me feel included and comfortable,” recalled Kelsey Ohle, sales manager. “It was such a simple gesture, but it spoke volumes about the kind of person she was—warm, thoughtful, and always willing to help others feel welcome.”
Matt McKeown, a former account manager at Lab Manager, expressed similar sentiments about Alyssa: “Although I left the company almost a year ago, I still carry many positive memories of the people I had the opportunity to work with, and Alyssa was certainly one of them. She was always a wonderful colleague, thoughtful, dedicated, and deeply committed to both her work and the clients she supported. Her loyalty and kindness left a lasting impression on those around her.”
In recent years, a key priority for Alyssa was taking a leading role in selling out the exhibit halls of two in-person events—the Lab Manager Leadership Summit and the Lab Design Conference.
Seeing her in action at these events and tradeshows was a highlight for many of us: “Alyssa loved our live events. It gave her the opportunity to meet with colleagues and customers in person. She was proud of selling out the exhibit halls, ensuring her customers had a good experience at the event, and being there to support Cayley Thomas, the program manager for our live events,” said Hanton.
“Being a remote team, it’s a rare opportunity to see each other in person, so it was such a genuine joy to get to see and work alongside Alyssa each year,” added Lauren Everett, managing editor.

MaryBeth DiDonna, managing editor for Lab Design News, also shared: “I really enjoyed working with Alyssa over the past seven years, first at Lab Manager and then on the Lab Design Conference. She was incredibly well-liked and respected by her clients, and she built an extremely successful exhibit hall for the conference. . .I always enjoyed catching up with her about her world travels and the time she spent with her family, who clearly meant so much to her.”
As we say farewell to Alyssa, we wanted to share a couple more tributes from teammates that worked with her from the start:
From Rob D’Angelo, EVP, global sales at LabX Media Group: “Alyssa and I were the LabX 'newbies' 14+ years ago. Our start dates were a month apart. She worked for Lab Manager, and I was at The Scientist. In those early days, 6-8x per year, we would meet at the Toronto Airport to visit our Midland office. Mario Di Ubaldi was our driver and me, Ed Neeb, Alyssa, and a little later, Rob Sweeney, would all pile into one car for the two-hour journey. That’s how I got to know Alyssa. One of the biggest things that stood out was the love for her family. She had many nephews and a niece and adored all of them. As the years moved on, I’d see Alyssa at many trade shows. She always had a bright smile. We’d have a cocktail and catch up about sales, customers, and always about her family. Alyssa left this world way too early, but I can say without a doubt that I’m a better person for having Alyssa as a friend and colleague. She was one of a kind."

From Cayley Thomas, conference operations manager: “Alyssa was one of the kindest people I have ever known, and I feel incredibly lucky to have worked closely with her for 14 years. Over those many years, our bond grew far beyond that of professional colleagues, and I am deeply grateful that I got to call her a dear friend. I will forever treasure the many fond memories of our travels together. Above all, Alyssa was a proud daughter, sister, and aunt who loved her family fiercely. She brought so much warmth into the lives of everyone around her, and she will be greatly missed by us all.”
On behalf of everyone at Lab Manager and LabX Media Group, we send all our love to Alyssa’s family and friends. We are so grateful to have worked alongside her for so long. She will be greatly missed.
