Erik Konings is an analytical chemist with extensive experience in food safety, nutrition, and method development. He began his career in 1984 at the Food Inspection Service in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and later worked on analytical methods for vitamins in food. He completed a PhD on dietary folates in human nutrition, as well as an MSc in epidemiology, through Maastricht University. Over the course of his career, he has held senior scientific and   management roles at the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), and Nestlé Research Center in Lausanne. He is the co-author of more than 30 scientific publications and has been actively involved in AOAC, CEN, ISO, IDF, and Codex committees focused on analytical methods and food standards.
