Tanya is currently the Manager, Radiation, Chemical and Biological Safety at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). This involves leading and implementing lab safety programs, as well as managing the institutional hazardous waste and environmental air and noise emissions portfolios. In her role, she provides subject matter expertise on facility design and critical infrastructure requirements during construction and renovation projects and procedural best practices related to lab safety, research compliance and equipment preventative maintenance. She brings over 20 years of expertise in radiation protection, chemical safety and biological safety management. She is a Registered Biological Safety Officer with the Canadian Association of Biological Safety, a Registered Radiation Safety Professional with the Canadian Radiation Protection Association, and holds a Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation with the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals. One of her many passions is mentoring and coaching young professionals in the occupational and environmental health and safety fields, and stays active and current by sitting on various national boards and committees providing governance within her industry.
