Lab Manager’s 2021 Editorial Roundup

Celebrating the top articles, events, and successes of the year

Lab Manager

As we approach the final days of 2021, the editorial team at Lab Manager expresses our gratitude and appreciation for all our subscribers, readers, and event attendees. Your participation and engagement enable us to continue to provide the tips, insight, and resources you need to “run your lab like a business.”

Despite the challenges of 2021, there are still many exciting things to celebrate, and to look forward to in the new year:

1.    The Lab Manager Academy

The Lab Manager team is thrilled to announce the launch of the Lab Manager Academy, which offers 20 eLearning courses that will sharpen your existing leadership and management skills, and either prepare you for taking on a new lab manager role, or improve your ability to succeed in your current role as lab manager. Visit academy.labmanager.com to explore individual courses, or enroll in the full curriculum to receive the Lab Manager Academy certificate.

2.    Top Digital Summit of 2021: The Lab Manager Leadership Digital Summit

Attracting more than 2,000 registrants, the 2021 Lab Manager Leadership Digital Summit was our top performing event of the year. Presentation topics included: “Listening—The Key to Successful Communication,” “Navigating Mind Traps,” “Embrace Humility to Become a Better Leader and Lab Manager,” and more. If you missed this amazing event, you can still view on demand here.

3.    Top Big Picture Series of 2021: Bioprocessing: Where It Is and Where It’s Going

The Lab Manager editorial team produced 14 Big Picture series in 2021, each of which takes a deep dive into a specific industry or field of science. The most popular series of the year focused on bioprocessing. Articles in the series discussed how companies are solving challenges in industrial bioprocessing, trends in single-use bioprocessing, recent developments in cell line development in upstream bioprocessing, and how new options in cell media can help overcome the challenges of cell therapy manufacturing. Check out the series here.

4.    LIVE Lab Manager Leadership Summit & Leadership Excellence Awards

The live Lab Manager Leadership Summit is back! Given the success of the digital event, the Leadership Summit was the perfect choice for our first live event of 2022. Taking place in Baltimore, Maryland from May 16-18, the Summit will focus on key management, business, safety, and staffing challenges facing today’s lab managers. Early bird pricing is available until Jan. 31, so don’t wait to register.

We will also honor winners of our inaugural Leadership Excellence Awards at the Summit. This awards program recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and management skills within their scientific organizations. Visit summit.labmanager.com/leadershipawards to learn how to nominate yourself or a colleague for one of the four award categories.

5.    Upcoming Digital Events in 2022

We’re already preparing for another busy year, as our calendar is filled with 11 digital summits, as well as a variety of safety, management, and lab design webinars in 2022. The first few digital events of the new year include the Analytical Chemistry Digital Summit in January, the Green Labs Digital Summit in February, and the Drug Discovery Digital Summit in March. Each event will feature a lineup of expert speakers, and provide opportunities for attendees to participate in Q&A sessions.

We look forward to connecting with you in 2022, and wish you a happy and safe holiday season!
