Hazards for persons using and handling laboratory animals may arise from a variety of sources, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, hazardous substances, toxins, carcinogens, allergens, recombinant DNA techniques, anesthetic gases, and physical injuries.
