ACS Laboratory Now Tests for 17 Cannabinoids, More Than Any Lab in the Southeastern US
Previously testing for 16 cannabinoids, ACS adds cannabicitran (CBT) as the 17th
BOCA RATON, FL — (July 22, 2020) — ACS Laboratory, the top-ranking laboratory for precision testing and recipient of the most Emerald Test™ Badges in the country in 2019 for cannabis testing facilities, has expanded its testing capabilities from testing for 16 cannabinoids to 17 cannabinoids. Adding Cannabicitran (CBT) to the list of cannabinoids it tests, ACS Laboratory is the only lab in the Southeast US to test for 17 total cannabinoids.
“Adding CBT to the list of cannabinoids we test is just the beginning—we are continuously developing new tests so we can support the research and development necessary to create higher quality products and medicines,” said Roger Brown, president and CEO of ACS Laboratory, a pioneer in cannabis research and development. “We hope to analyze more cannabinoids than any other lab in the US, as there is much more to be done to understand how cannabis’ hundreds of therapeutic cannabinoids synergize in the body,” he continued.
CBT was first isolated in 1971. While little is known about the compound, it has inspired curiosity of consumer product companies, scientists, and researchers all over the world. Researchers have discovered CBT is the most concentrated in distillates from CBD-dominant, low THC cannabis varieties. Chemically, CBT has the same relationship to CBD as CBD has with THC.
One animal study performed by cannabis researcher Mahmoud ElSohly showed that CBT could reduce eye pressure. This provides hope that the compound could potentially treat related diseases. ElSohly is the director of the University of Mississippi's Marijuana Research Project, the only legal source of marijuana that can be used for medical research in the United States. While research on minor cannabinoids has been suppressed in the past, the recent legalization of hemp allows for more studies, and ACS Laboratory is pleased to support expanded research.
ACS Laboratory is Florida’s largest ISO Accredited, DEA licensed, and CLIA licensed laboratory designated by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) to provide sample collection and testing services. It is also deemed a "Certified Marijuana Testing Laboratory" by the Florida Department of Health (DOH).
