PerkinElmer Sponsors the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad

Student teams from 77 countries compete to solve complex chemical problems and promote international collaboration in chemistry education.

WHAT: PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on the health and safety of people and the environment, today (Aug. 5) celebrated the winners of the 46th Olympiad (IChO). PerkinElmer sponsored the IChO, an annual academic competition for high school students and one of the International Science Olympiads.

PerkinElmer representatives addressed 1,500 delegates at a closing ceremony attended by Vietnam’s Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Training, and awarded prizes to the top ranked competition winners.

In his remarks at the closing ceremony, Phil McHale, product manager for ChemDraw®, PerkinElmer, congratulated the students and mentors for their hard work and dedication and thanked the Vietnamese organizers for a well-run Olympiad.

PerkinElmer’s ChemBioDraw® Ultra version 14.0 desktop software offers scientists and students an up-to-date collection of scientifically intelligent applications for chemical structure drawing and analysis combined with biological pathway drawing. A key new feature is the ability to search the SciFinder® database from Chemical Abstracts Service directly from the software with no time-consuming cutting and pasting. The mobile version of the ChemDraw software designed for use with iPad® devices includes PerkinElmer’s novel Flick-to-ShareTM capability for real-time sharing of chemical structures and reactions.

WINNERS: PerkinElmer awarded the top five winners an iPad® miniTM device , the ChemBioDraw Ultra version 14.0 software, and a subscription to the SciFinder® search service while the next 10 honorees received a copy of the ChemBioDraw Ultra software and a subscription to the SciFinder search service .
