Good communication and proper equipment are essential to maintain safety and meet your lab’s needs, both today and for the future.

Live Air Date: Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Laboratory science is a risky business, but much of that risk can be mitigated through forward-thinking lab design and clear communication. In this presentation, university biosafety officer Matt Anderson will detail what worked and what did not during his recent laboratory construction project at the University of Nebraska’s Veterinary Diagnostic Center. Anderson was tasked with finding the best combination of equipment, lab layout, and materials to maximize safety, flexibility, and energy savings. Brian Garrett, project manager at Labconco, will illustrate how to choose the most appropriate equipment to accomplish the lab’s tasks. He will discuss the importance of good communication and selecting equipment that functions for today and tomorrow’s needs.

As an attendee, you will learn more about how to:

  • Determine what information is critical to communicate to your safety officials and design team
  • Avoid traps during the specification and design phase of the project
  • Ensure your next laboratory build/renovation meets necessary safety and performance requirements
  • Identify laboratory equipment built for flexibility that increases the lab's operation and function, maintains safety, and positively impacts your company's bottom line
