Determination of Heavy Metals in Cannabis and Hemp Products

AOAC has granted first action approval for an accurate, standardized analytical method for heavy metal testing in cannabis

The analysis of heavy metals in cannabis has been difficult for many labs because of a lack of official methods in the industry. AOAC has granted first action approval for an accurate, standardized analytical method for heavy metal testing in cannabis using the Agilent ICP-MS for the quantification of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg) and lead (Pb) in a variety of cannabis and cannabis-derived products. This method developed by Agilent in partnership with CEM is a major step forward ensuring safety in this fast-growing market.
