The novel ambient sampling technique was invented by Gary van Berkel and Vilmos Ketesz of Oak Ridge National Laboratory1. Paired with the electrospray ion source of the expression Compact Mass Spectrometer, the product incorporates an open port of continuous small-flowing volume of solvent directly into the mass spectrometer. Any soluble sample touching the port is analyzed by the mass spectrometer in mere seconds. OPSI offers a fast assay benchtop solution for solid, liquids, and surfaces in a small-footprint, easy-to-use system.
