INTEGRA Biosciences is making its MAGFLO™ NGS magnetic beads available to more laboratories across Europe and North America, broadening access to a flexible tool for nucleic acid purification, NGS size selection, and PCR clean-up.

The expansion gives lab managers another option for supporting efficient sequencing workflows while balancing consistency, automation, and budget considerations.

MAGFLO NGS magnetic beads are QC verified for single- and double-sided size selection, helping labs maintain consistent DNA or RNA fragment sizes. Because the beads are stable at room temperature, RNase free, and interchangeable with gold standard size selection beads, they may appeal to labs looking for dependable performance with added operational convenience.

Magnetic Beads for Efficient NGS Size Selection and PCR Clean-Up

The beads support controlled double-sided size selection across fragment sizes from 100 to 1000 bp. They are also compatible with long DNA fragments and gDNA, making them suitable for long-read sequencing workflows in addition to more routine applications.

According to INTEGRA, MAGFLO NGS magnetic beads can be used with:

  • Fragmented DNA
  • RNA
  • cDNA
  • PCR products
  • Long DNA fragments and gDNA

That range of compatibility may help labs simplify purchasing and standardization decisions when multiple teams or assays rely on different nucleic acid inputs.

Automation Compatibility Can Help Increase Lab Productivity

A notable advantage for busy labs is the product’s compatibility with INTEGRA automation and pipetting platforms. MAGFLO NGS magnetic beads integrate with the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot with MAG or HEATMAG modules, as well as VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 handheld electronic pipettes. This setup enables semi- or fully automated DNA clean-up and size selection workflows, helping reduce manual handling and improve productivity.

In a performance validation, the company reports that the beads delivered comparable sequencing metrics and no detectable bias in microbial diversity analysis when benchmarked against industry-standard beads for Illumina MiSeq amplicon sequencing workflows.

MAGFLO NGS magnetic beads are now available in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
