Providence, RI — Liquid stable reference standards, containing both ammonia and iron concentrations, are now offered from Verichem Laboratories. These standard materials are explicitly designed and manufactured to meet the needs of a variety of laboratory professionals involved in routine clinical testing, research applications, or in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) manufacturing facilities. These ammonia/iron standards are intended to be treated as patient samples with a variety of clinical test systems, including those from Abbott Diagnostics, Beckman Coulter, Horiba Medical, Roche Diagnostics, and Siemens Healthcare, among many others.
The five level Ammonia/Iron Standard Kit, along with the additional and optional sixth level, comprise a set of definitive method standard materials containing concentration levels from 10 mcg/dL to 1000 mcg/dL for iron and 10 to 2000 mcg/dL for ammonia and are intended for the calibration, or calibration verification, of both ammonia and iron assays employing either enzymatic and colorimetric wet chemistry testing methods. The liquid stable format, which is free of glycols, surfactants, azides, and other interfering substances, is pH adjusted and the aqueous, non-protein matrix is uniquely designed to support both of these critical trace analytes. The set point design, with equidistant target concentrations, addresses the current CLIA requirements for calibration verification materials used for the determination of a clinical system’s accuracy, sensitivity, linearity, and reportable range.
The Verichem Laboratories’ ready-to-use Ammonia/Iron Standard Kit is packaged in a convenient 15 milliliter translucent, polyethylene dropper vial and prepared from reagent grade source materials. Each concentration level for iron is verified using available Standard Reference Materials from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Ammonia concentrations are certified using ACS Reagent Grade independent primary standards. A certificate of analysis indicating traceability and actual lot data is included with each kit. Verichem Laboratories’ Ammonia/Iron Standard Kit offers exceptional lot-to-lot consistencies and an outstanding open vial shelf-life of 15 months when stored at 2°C to 8°C.
