Image courtesy of ACD/LabsToronto, CANADA & London, UNITED KINGDOM (July 9 , 2015) - ACD/Labs, a Toronto-based chemistry software company, and IDBS, a leading global provider of advanced software for R&D organizations, today announced a new partnership to deliver an enhanced analytical sciences environment for IDBS Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) users in the chemistry and biology space.

The collaborative effort has begun with an integration of ACD/Labs’ Spectrus and IDBS’ E-WorkBook 10 web technologies to bring live analytical data into the scientists’ ELN interfaces. Users can now view live-spectral, chromatographic, and curve data in their notebook entries for deeper insight, more accurate knowledge capture, and data analysis. Users can also transition directly into ACD/Labs’ Spectrus Platform to manipulate the analytical data, with changes automatically reflected back into E-WorkBook 10 and vice versa.

Despite significant adoption of informatics technologies like ELNs, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and Scientific Data Management Systems (SDMS) in various industries, the challenge of automatically collecting analytical data for reporting, analysis, and decision-making remains a significant hurdle. Furthermore, with the desire for better integration between laboratory informatics systems, a natural link between ELNs and analytical data is warranted.

Over the past year, IDBS and ACD/Labs have provided sneak previews of development progress. The two way integration is a demonstration that these types of strategic partnerships are possible when the core technologies are enabled with good architecture and public APIs.
