NORWALK, Conn. and SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 16, 2014 - Cerno Bioscience and Agilent Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced Agilent will distribute Cerno Bioscience’s MassWorks™ calibration and analysis software with all Agilent GC/MSD systems. This novel calibration technology increases the mass accuracy of Agilent's single quadrupole GC/MSD to enable unknown compound identification. This process normally requires more complex instruments such as Time-of-Flight (TOF) mass spectrometers.
"Making Cerno MassWorks directly available to GC/MSD users through Agilent channels opens the qualitative power of accurate mass information to scan MS users worldwide," said Monty Benefiel, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s GC and GC/MS Solutions Division. "Through this partnership with Cerno, customers can now benefit from this new capability at an attractive incremental cost when purchasing GC/MSD systems."
MassWorks uses Cerno's patented technology to calibrate raw MS data generated by the Agilent GC/MSD systems for significantly higher mass accuracy and unparalleled spectral accuracy, enabling elemental composition determination on these otherwise conventional MS systems. In addition to enabling compound identification without a library, the MassWorks formula ID capability also speeds and adds confidence to library searches. The combination of Agilent GC/MSD and Cerno MassWorks provides an economical accurate mass formula ID solution to users who are not ready to acquire high resolution GC/MS systems.
"We are pleased to enter into this partnership with Agilent, a recognized market leader in GC/MS. Through Agilent's worldwide distribution channels, we will be able to make MassWorks broadly available to significantly more users," said Dr. Yongdong Wang, founder and president of Cerno Bioscience. "By configuring and pricing MassWorks specifically for the GC/MSD market and making the new AutoCal™ feature uniquely available on GC/MSD, we help provide a compelling solution to users who are in the market for a new GC/MS.”
MassWorks is compatible with Agilent 5977, 5975 and 5973 GC/MSD instruments running Agilent MSD ChemStation or MassHunter software. To determine compatibility with older systems, please contact Cerno or Agilent.
