Azenta Life Sciences has expanded its IntelliXcap™ line with the new M6 Semi-Automated Handheld Screw Cap Decapper. Specifically engineered for 48-format external thread screw cap tubes, the M6 is designed for laboratories seeking a balance between manual processes and full automation.

Offering the precision of automation in a user-friendly handheld form, the IntelliXcap M6 allows lab staff to decap or recap an entire column of tubes in seconds. By applying consistent torque to every cap, the device minimizes variability, protects sample integrity, and reduces ergonomic strain.

Ergonomic, Efficient, and Scalable

The IntelliXcap M6 was built with user comfort and laboratory productivity in mind. Key features include:

  • Lightweight, ergonomic design for reduced strain during extended use
  • Semi-automated operation with consistent torque to protect samples
  • 6-channel configuration ideal for low to mid-throughput labs
  • Docking station for charging, storage, and cap handling
  • Mains and cordless operation for bench flexibility

Sofia Peniche Maria, Senior Global Product Manager, Consumables & Instruments at Azenta Life Sciences, explained, “By introducing this model alongside our existing M8, 96-format version, we are providing laboratories that work with 48-formats with greater flexibility to match the right level of automation to their throughput needs, without compromising on sample integrity or consistency.”

Supporting Diverse Lab Environments

Whether for genomics, clinical research, or biobanking, the IntelliXcap M6 supports consistent, torque-controlled cap handling. For labs not yet ready to invest in full automation, this tool presents an efficient and scalable step forward.

“We designed the IntelliXcap platform to deliver accessible, scalable automation that enhances laboratory workflows at every throughput level,” added Peniche. “The M6 underscores that commitment and continues that vision, helping labs of any size improve their workflows through smart, semi-automated technology.”

The IntelliXcap M6 is now available globally through Azenta’s sales network. For more information, visit www.azenta.com/products/intellixcap-m6-semi-automated-handheld-screw-cap-decapper-6-channel.
