UK manufacturer of anaerobic and hypoxic workstations is now a subsidiary of Baker BioScience Solutions

SANFORD, Maine — August 2, 2011 — The Baker Company has acquired South Wales-based Ruskinn Technology Ltd., a leading manufacturer of anaerobic and modified-atmosphere workstations. As of July 1, 2011, Ruskinn Technology Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary within The Baker Company’s BioScience Solutions line of contamination control products. Ruskinn Technology is renowned for its closed cell culture expertise, which The Baker Company hopes to combine with its own aseptic processing and containment technologies to evolve future systems for the cell biology, stem cell and regenerative medicine markets.

Baker Bioscience Solutions, a division of The Baker Company, has been a U.S. distributor of Ruskinn Technology’s anaerobic and hypoxic workstations since 2010. Ruskinn Technology was founded in 1993 and has rapidly become established as one of the world’s leading suppliers of gas-controlled, anaerobic and modified atmosphere workstations for use in medical microbiology, cell biology, cancer research, molecular medicine and stem cell laboratories. Ruskinn has 1,700 workstations installed in over 60 countries.

“The management and staffs of both The Baker Company and Ruskinn Technology are excited to combine our resources and experience,” says Dan Eagelson, vice president of The Baker Company. “We see great potential in our new capability to make important contributions to the scientific community.”

As The Baker Company moves ahead, it will contribute additional resources to Ruskinn Technology’s UK facility. The principle officers of Ruskinn Technology will remain in critical roles: Andrew Skinn will continue in his position as brand ambassador in South Wales where he will also support R&D efforts. Samir Patel will relocate to The Baker Company’s headquarters in Sanford, Maine, where he will lead the worldwide sales and marketing of Ruskinn Technology’s products.

The incorporation of Ruskinn Technology’s product line into the BioScience Solutions division of The Baker Company will be seamless for current and future distributors and customers of Ruskinn Technology’s products. More information about Ruskinn Technology’s product line is available at www.ruskinn.com and www.bakerbio.com.
