New research, led by University of Southampton biological scientist Dr Hannah Siddle, is aiming to develop an effective vaccine against an infectious cancer that is eradicating the Tasmanian devil, the world’s largest remaining marsupial carnivore.

Beckman Coulter Life Sciences announced July 20 an expansion of its CARES (Cellular Accessible Retroviral Evaluation Systems) Initiative at the 2015 International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference, being held at the Vancouver Convention Centre from July 19-22, 2015 in Vancouver, Canada. CARES focuses on providing innovative solutions for the monitoring of HIV and AIDS treatment in Africa.

Similar hair cells in a fish sensory system that dots their bodies and forms the lateral line, by which they discern water movement, are readily regenerated if damage or death occurs.
