Gilbane Inc. has been chosen to lead the project - a six-story facility at UMB BioPark located at the University's Baltimore campus. The facility, which will serve as the office of the Chief Medical Examiner, will include a medical examiner administration area, a main autopsy area, a special procedures autopsy area and a laboratory area.
The design process began in July 2006, when the Maryland Board of Public Works awarded the $4 million design contract to Gaudreau, Inc., of Baltimore, and McLaren, Wilson and Lawrie of Phoenix, Ariz., the Balitmore Business Journal reports.
Construction is expected to start in the summer of 2008.
Gilbane has annual revenues of more than $2.5 billion and more than 25 offices across the United States.
