The analysis of heavy metals in cannabis has been difficult for many labs because of a lack of official methods in the industry. AOAC has granted first action approval for an accurate, standardized analytical method for heavy metal testing in cannabis using the Agilent ICP-MS for the quantification of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), mercury (Hg) and lead (Pb) in a variety of cannabis and cannabis-derived products. This method developed by Agilent in partnership with CEM is a major step forward ensuring safety in this fast-growing market.
