Have Lab Equipment to Donate? Seeding Labs Could Use Another Hand

Since our December 2014 profile on Seeding Labs and its CEO Nina Dudnik, the non-profit has helped out even more scientists in developing countries. According to its latest newsletter, the group has now made 38 shipments of donated laboratory equipment and supplies to 33 universities in 24 countries and ten more shipments will soon be sent as part of its Instrumental Access program.

Seeding Labs says it will announce the next Instrumental Access awardees over the next few months and is asking for labs with surplus equipment to help meet those awardees’ lab equipment needs.

This year, Seeding Labs received Instrumental Access program applications from 67 university departments in 25 developing countries around the world, including ten new countries. The non-profit says it expects to award 15-17 shipments from the 2015 cohort.

Also new for Seeding Labs is a partnership with AmazonSmile, a program in which Amazon.com donates a percentage of shoppers’ eligible purchases to a charitable organization. In the case of Seeding Labs, Amazon will donate 0.5% of eligible purchases, if shoppers use this link.
