GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), has opened voting for its annual IN Cell Image Competition at www.gelifesciences.com/incellcompetition. Voters have until 6th of January 2010 to choose their favorite from a shortlist of 30 beautiful images. Everyone who votes will receive a complementary calendar featuring images from the previous competition.
All images entered into the competition were generated using GE Healthcare’s IN Cell Analyzer, a High Content Analysis system that allows scientists to study cellular processes in their biological context. Three winners will be selected, one from each of North America, Europe, and Asia, who will receive an expenses paid trip for two to New York to see their image displayed in Times Square.
“The IN Cell Image Competition is a great opportunity to showcase the fascination of science to people who would not usually have any involvement in research,” said Dr Miriam Ascagni, DIBIT-San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Italy, and last year’s European Winner. “The system’s high throughput and ability to quantitatively extract a large amount of data from the images eliminates subjectivity, giving increased confidence compared to traditional microscopy.”
The competition is supported by BioTechniques, and for a high-resolution image please contact ge-incell@collegehill.com
