Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (SSI) announces the release of the new Shim-pack Arata LC columns to provide unmatched peak shape for high-pH compounds. These columns solve the resolution challenges of analyzing basic compounds, such as leading of highly polar basic compounds, peak shape deterioration of acidic compounds, or long equilibration time required for low ionic strength acidic mobile phase.
With the Shim-pack Arata LC column, operators can achieve unprecedented peak shape of basic compounds while still maintaining good peak shape for acidic compounds, even when low ionic strength acidic mobile phase is used.
In addition, users can achieve excellent peak shape and separation performance for peptides using Shim-pack Arata LC columns even with weak ion pairing acids, such as 0.1 % formic acid containing mobile phase. Under reversed phase chromatography, in order to obtain good peak shape of peptides analysts frequently use trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) containing mobile phases, with a relatively strong ion pairing effect. The Shim-pack Arata LC column solves the problem of TFA causing ion suppression in LC/MS analysis.
The Shim-pack Arata LC column also enables rapid equilibration with low ionic strength acidic mobile phases. This new column solves the problem of poor peak shape and long equilibration times when analyzing basic compounds on a typical ODS column with low ionic strength acidic mobile phase. Users can rapidly equilibrate Shim-pack Arata LC columns in low ionic strength acidic mobile phases, yielding excellent peak shape and stable retention times.
