Leica Microsystems has introduced the Viventis SCAPE light sheet microscope, a system designed to help lab managers and research teams capture fast biological processes in three dimensions while maintaining sample integrity. Announced at Focus on Microscopy (FOM) 2026, the system combines high-speed volumetric imaging with standard sample carrier compatibility to streamline workflows and improve reproducibility.

Faster 3D Imaging Without Compromising Sample Viability

Many biologically relevant processes occur on extremely short timescales, making them difficult to capture in 3D without damaging samples. Viventis SCAPE addresses this challenge by combining rapid volumetric imaging with gentle imaging conditions, enabling researchers to observe live biological dynamics as they happen.

“With Viventis SCAPE, our goal is to empower researchers to explore new frontiers in volumetric live‑cell imaging, enabling insights that are unattainable with other technologies,” said James O’Brien, Vice President of Life Sciences and Applied Solutions at Leica Microsystems. “It enables researchers to follow biology as it occurs, without altering physiological states, with increased throughput, and obtain results faster by resolving dynamics as they happen.”
