The world's leading network scientists will share their latest research at a conference hosted by the New York Hall of Science on May 20 - 25.
NetSci 2007: International Workshop and Conference on Network Science brings together leading researchers, practitioners and teachers in network science (including analysts, modeling experts, visualization specialists and others).
"The Hall is thrilled to play a role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within the emerging field of network science by hosting this conference," said Hall President & CEO Marilyn Hoyt.
The first half of the event, the workshop (May 20 - 21), consists of a series of tutorial lectures when experts will present a detailed review of their research. The workshop aims to present basic experimental and theoretical developments, as well as educate the research community on standard network databases, tools and computational resources.
The second half of the event is the conference (May 22 - 25), which is devoted to presentations that are accessible to audiences outside of the speakers' respective fields. In addition to keynote and invited talks we will have a number of contributed talks. For this year's event, particular emphasis will be placed on biology (genetic regulatory networks, gene transcription, protein interactions, protein folding networks, disease maps, metabolic networks and ecological networks).
A poster session will be held along with a best "Visualizing Network Dynamics" image competition. Summarizing discussion sessions and panels will be also directed to facilitate common ground between diverse areas, as well as seek ways to improve the understanding of network science to the public.
