WALTHAM, Mass. – October 29, 2014 –PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on improving the health and safety of people and the environment, today announced the acquisition of  Ceiba Solutions, Inc., a sciences and laboratory IT software and services company offering managed IT services and emerging software platforms. 

PerkinElmer will integrate Ceiba’s capabilities into its OneSource® services, which aim to reduce the complexity in laboratories and increase laboratory efficiencies, enabling the ability to accelerate science. OneSource delivers a complete portfolio of laboratory services including: Lab IT, Compliance, Asset Informatics and Analytics, Lab Relocation, Scientific Services and multivendor instrument service and repair.  Ceiba’s solutions will specifically enhance the OneSource Lab IT portfolio, which includes lab computing, scientific application services, scientific data services and computer systems validation.

In addition to collaborating with OneSource for improved laboratory productivity and efficiencies, PerkinElmer’s customers will now have access to these enhanced Lab IT services:  

• Lab Computing Managed Services: a metrics-driven information technology support service for the lab, employing a unique technology platform that manages  Lab-specific IT workflows including, instrument commissioning, ongoing maintenance activities and ensuring compliance in documentation 

• Training and Certification: a vendor-neutral, instrument-focused curriculum for training and certifying information technology professionals in the uniqueness of IT in a laboratory environment
• Informatics: a sophisticated data utilization, exploration and analysis solution for life sciences researchers
