Thermo Fisher Scientific has rolled out new enhancements to its Vanquish HPLC and UHPLC platforms, streamlining liquid chromatography operations for managers balancing productivity with sustainability goals. These upgrades bring smarter usability, automated maintenance features, and a greener footprint to chromatography workflows.

Reducing Errors with Torque-Controlled Fluidics

A major highlight is the new standard inclusion of Thermo Scientific Viper TQ UHPLC fittings. These torque-controlled, tool-free connections help eliminate leaks—a major source of rework and downtime in busy labs. The audible click feedback helps technicians of all experience levels install fittings correctly the first time.

“The robust and tight connections provide a high level of reliability, and the capillaries are easier to use compared to other solutions,” said Lylia Drici, senior scientist at Ferring Pharmaceuticals.

Sustainability Built In

These are the first LC systems to receive Platinum ACT™ Ecolabel 2.0 Certification, a recognition of their eco-conscious manufacturing. Vanquish LC systems now boast:

  • 100% renewable energy manufacturing
  • 20% recycled material content
  • 70% recyclable packaging

Streamlining for Operational Efficiency

The updated Vanquish Sample Hub increases unattended operation capacity with support for up to 23 sample racks. Other productivity-focused features include vial-bottom detection and a touchscreen interface that simplifies training and routine use.

“The tactile feedback ensures that the fittings are properly secured, regardless of the columns used,” said Drici. “The addition of the improved, smaller eluent filters was another great benefit... making the overall system even more user-friendly."

Summary of Benefits for Liquid Chromatography Workflows:

  • Leak prevention that reduces rework and downtime
  • Enhanced ecological efficiency with ACT-labeled components
  • Simplified operation and maintenance for cross-trained teams
  • Increased unattended run time for higher throughput

Thermo Fisher's latest Vanquish system upgrade offers lab managers tangible improvements in reliability, user experience, and environmental performance.
