Webinar: Applying Safety Management System Principles for Lab Safety Excellence

Date(s):

Safety Management Systems (SMS) have proven to be very effective in reducing the extent and severity of work-related injuries and illnesses.

Live Air Date: Wednesday, June 29, 2016

Safety Management Systems (SMS) have proven to be very effective in reducing the extent and severity of work-related injuries and illnesses. Several consensus standards are in use that outline the essential elements of an SMS, such as the American National Standard Institute’s (ANSI) Z10:2005 or the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) 45001 Standard. Although there are differences between the various SMS standards, there are core principles that support any SMS and are common to all systems. Integrating these principles into the lab safety approach will provide assurance that all lab hazards are identified and the associated risks are effectively managed with continuous improvement.

As an attendee, you will learn more about:

  • Awareness of safety management systems (SMSs) and their benefits
  • Key principles common to all SMSs
  • Typical outcomes when SMS elements are applied in a laboratory setting
