The Laboratory Products Association (LPA) will hold its 2010 Annual Meeting November 7-9 at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, CA. Attendees will be able to take advantage of extensive networking opportunities, education for both personal enrichment and professional development, and up-to-date information on market trends and data, all focused on the meeting’s theme, Bouncing Back? The Road Ahead.
The education kicks off the morning of November 8 with renowned economist Barry Asmus, who will be speaking on “America’s Economic Future: The Six Unstoppable Trends”. Asmus, named by USA Today as one of the five most requested keynote speakers in the United States, writes and speaks on global and national economic and political issues. As a Senior Economist for the National Center for Policy Analysis, Asmus does not just speak on policies, he is instrumental in their implementation. Having advised US leaders on everything from taxes to social security, he is a leading economic authority and business speaker.
Following Asmus will be Maria Berdusco, an author, speaker, leadership strategist, facilitator, and professional coach, speaking on “The Neuroscience of Leadership: What We Have Learned and How You Can Apply It”. Berdusco is the author of the best-selling book How to Think Like a Leader: A Personal Guide to Change and Discovery and the CEO and Founder of Leadership International. She has held senior positions in several Fortune 500 science and technology companies (including Fisher Scientific) and holds degrees in molecular biology, behavioral psychology and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Business. She has also completed graduate studies in cognitive psychology and management at Harvard University.
Jonathan Witonsky of Frost & Sullivan will present the 2010 Annual Forecast and Analysis of the Laboratory Products Market. This report, an exclusive benefit of LPA membership, assesses the lab products market and looks to answer the question is the industry truly Bouncing Back.
Wrapping up Monday’s education program will be Ron Cates, famed marketing speaker, who will discuss the benefits and methods of successful email marketing, including implementing LPA’s newest member benefit Constant Contact. Attendees will be able to discuss their thoughts at an evening networking reception and dinner.
Closing out the meeting on a positive note will be inspirational speaker Kirk Lippold (USN, Ret.). Lippold was the commanding officer of the USS Cole when it came under a suicide attack by al Qaeda in the port of Aden, Yemen in 2000. During his command, he and his crew distinguished themselves by saving the American ship from sinking. The attack on the Cole was one of the seminal events of US history and Commander Lippold's valuable experiences have helped give thousands of military officers and civilians insight into integrity and leadership. A graduate of the US Naval Academy, Kirk Lippold has received the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Navy Achievement Medal. By describing his experiences, he helps to shed light on the keys to successful leadership in difficult circumstances.
