The vice-presidents of research at Ontario universities have met with NSERC to express their concerns about the cancellation next year of NSERC's Research Tools and Instruments (RTI) Program competition. NSERC will offer the program for the last time in 2013, but only at reduced levels. Instead, it wants the research community to explore other avenues for funding research tools and instruments, such as NSERC programs that allow for the purchase of equipment, among other expenses. For its part, NSERC has agreed to continue talking with the university representatives to find possible solutions to the RTI cuts. Updates will be published here as they become available.
