Five companies have earned Small Business Subcontractor awards from the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., March 30, 2012 — Five companies have earned Small Business Subcontractor awards from the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

The companies are Keller Technology Corp. of Tonawanda, N.Y., National Resource Management LLC of Knoxville, Tenn., TDS Exhibits Inc. of Knoxville, Tenn., Ideal System Solutions Inc. of Minnetonka, Kan., KDK Consulting Inc. of Knoxville, Tenn. and Alloy Fabrications Company of Clinton, Tenn.

Jim Haslam II, owner of Pilot Corp. of Knoxville, was the featured speaker at the March 30 ORNL Small Business Subcontractors Awards Breakfast.

Keller Technology, recipient of the Small Business of the Year Award, provides fabrication and technically complex mechanical assemblies at ORNL and contributes a key role for ongoing engineering projects related to the laboratory's Spallation Neutron Source.

National Resource Management, winner of the Small Disadvantaged Business of the Year Award, provides construction services and maintains solar assisted charging stations for a fleet of electric vehicles that serve the laboratory.

TDS Exhibits, recipient of the award in the women-owned small business category, focuses on building signs and other print matter at ORNL, including plaques, displays, panels, exhibits and banners.

KDK Consulting provides engineering services to ORNL and is the recipient of the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Subcontractor of the Year Award.

Alloy Fabrications, the winning entry in the Veteran-Owned small business category, supplies the laboratory's High Flux Isotope Reactor with cylinders and control plates.

In addition to the company awards, Landon Hill, a subcontract administrator in ORNL's Contracts Division, earned the Small Business Advocate of the Year Award.

ORNL divisions that were recognized for their efforts in working with small business were the Computational Sciences and Engineering Division in the area of research and development, along with the Facilities Development Division in the support area. Each division utilized small business across all socioeconomic groups.

Herb Debban, former director of ORNL's Facilities and Operations Directorate, earned a special award for Lifetime Achievement in Small Business Support.
