University of Michigan researchers today (Feb. 20) released a detailed draft analysis of policy options for hydraulic fracturing, the natural gas and oil extraction process commonly known as fracking.

Thermo Fisher Scientific has developed a simple, reliable and robust method for detecting dissolved gases in water using a gas chromatograph equipped with an autosampler and an electron flame ionization detector (FID).

“Pennsylvania has opened up its doors to fracking in ways that many other states in the U.S. have not,” said David Dausey, Ph.D., chair of the Mercyhurst University Public Health Department. “We don’t know enough about the environmental and human health effects of fracking and, as a result, Pennsylvania has become the home of experimental fracking.”
