In 2006, Austin, Texas, became the first city in the country to ban a commonly used pavement sealant over concerns that it was a major source of cancer-causing compounds in the environment. Eight years later, the city’s action seems to have made a big dent in the targeted compounds’ levels — researchers now report that the concentrations have dropped significantly.

The 35th Annual Telly Awards were announced June 16. Bio-Rad’s winning commercial compared its iScript™ Reverse Transcription Supermix for RT-qPCR to a product from a leading competitor. This year there were nearly 12,000 entries for Telly Awards from all 50 states and numerous countries. This is the second Silver Telly Award Bio-Rad has won in two years

Collaborative research between the University of Adelaide and industry will be boosted with the establishment of two nation-leading research hubs in the fields of agricultural science and mineral resources, aimed at improving production in areas of critical importance to the Australian economy.
